"Maybe some hearts are so big that they constantly have to burst and break.”
This novel explores universal issues through the specific perspective of a trans woman – emphasizing that these experiences address far more than just questions of sexuality and gender.
Alvina is a Swedish trans-American writer currently living in Berlin. She holds a master's degree in gender studies from Södertörns Högskola and conducted a thesis on trans women's sorority and intersectionality in New York. In 2015, Bokförlaget ETC published its book All That Is Mine: Rape, Stigmatization and Reparation, which received a grant from the Swedish Arts Council. In September 2018, his novel Locked Out – A nostalgic account of growing up for freaks was published by Dockhaveri Förlag. Her work falls directly into the lineage of Violette Leduc, Clarice Lispector and Sylvia Plath. Alvina Chamberland wins the Noemi Press book award in 2022 for this book.
